The Ranch is comprised of approximately 4 sections
(2600 acres) of land which includes over 2 miles
of direct private access to the Oldman River.
The initial focus of the Ranch was the breeding
and care of our herd of purebred Black Angus Cattle
as well as growing hay and grain for their winter
requirements. Today, in addition to this activity
we have created at its center a vibrant private
fly-fishing environment in a beautiful natural setting
which includes a multitude of wildlife species.
Eagles, hawks, deer, coyotes, sharptail grouse and
grey partridge are plentiful.
The Ranch accomodates a maximum of 8 fishing guests
at any one time and has 4 full time fishing guides
allocated to those guests during their stay. Currently
the fishing complex consists of an 1850's Western
Style Saloon, the Dining Lounge and two Sleeping
Cabins.
On the main level of the Saloon House we feature
a well-stocked bar with a piano, a stereo (solar
powered) and a poker table. Our kitchen is attached
to the back of the saloon and is also accessible
directly from the outside. Directly behind the Saloon
joined by a wooden deck we have the Dining Lounge.
This building contains comfortable leather seating
around a wood stove and a coffee table as well as
a locally built dining room table with chairs that
can comfortably seat up to 10 guests. Soft music
and our wine racks are also found here.
The Anchor B Ranch Fly-fishing Lodge is part of
a working cattle ranch located in South-western
Alberta.
Our 'Fly-fishing Staff' in additon to our expert
fishing guides include an experienced Chef and Camp
Attendent. Our goal is to ensure that all of our
facilities are kept neat, clean and comfortable
as well as providing crisp, clean bed-linen, towels
and table settings. We also strongly believe that
our guests need to complement excellent fishing
with excellent meals and refreshments. Home grown
'Alberta Beef' often finds itself on our table.
We offer an endless diversity and variety of fishery
as well as unique and spectacular scenery coupled
with an incredible lack of 'people pressure'.
Our fishing philosophy is simple... we practice
'catch and release' and we want all of our guests
to catch fish. No one leaves the breakfast table
without a well thought out fishing plan for the
day. With this attention to detail, it is our experience
that fishermen of all skill levels can have fun.
